Honors Program

Welcome to the English Department Honors Home Page!

This site is designed to inform faculty and students of English Department Honors events, deadlines, and policies and to facilitate communication about the Honors Program. New students to the program will want to review the information covered on this site. In order to join the program, you must fill out the New Student Information form and the Plan of Study form (links at right). You should bring these forms to the English Department Honors Program Advisor, Dr. John E. McLaughlin (RBW 307), along with an unofficial copy of your transcript verifying your current GPA.

This site is divided into four main sections. Please use the links at the right to reach each of the four main sections:

1. PROGRAM: This page offers a program description, program requirements, and a general timetable for the completion of English Department Honors. The Initial Student Information form is available from the "Program" page or as a link on the right of this "Welcome" page.

2. COMMUNICATIONS: This page provides email addresses for all current Honors English Students and faculty mentors. It also lists contact information for the English Department Honors Advisor.

3. COURSES: This page describes the requirements for receiving Honors credit for an English course. It also provides an annotated outline of the English department curriculum as a tool for students developing their Honors Plan of Study (form available from "Courses" or "Welcome" pages).

4. THESIS: This page offers detailed instructions about each step of the thesis-writing process, including thesis proposal guidelines, a thesis proposal archive, a current list of thesis titles, thesis requirements, thesis deadlines, a description of what to expect in your thesis defense, and information about grant opportunities.

At the right side of each page, you will find navigational buttons that can direct you to other parts of the web site, including a link back to the home page.
