Elevate Your Muse
Creative Writing
@ Utah State University

Utah State University offers a full slate of creative-writing coursework at the undergraduate and graduate level. Students can earn a Bachelor's degree in English with a creative-writing emphasis and a Master's degree through Literature & Writing or American Studies with a creative thesis project. For more information about those two graduate-level options, follow the links to Literature & Writing and/or American Studies.
* We offer a nurturing community. At some schools, faculty seal themselves off from students. Not here. We pride ourselves in mentoring students so that they can achieve the kind of technical and intellectual skills that we associate with the best creative writing.
* Creative-writing faculty includes winners of the T.S. Eliot Prize in Poetry, a Whiting Award and a Fulbright.
* Utah State University creative writers have published books and chapbooks with the University of Iowa Press, Tarcher/Putnam, Warner Books, New Michigan Press, Blue Scarab Press, City Arts and Truman State University Press.
* Our creative writers have had work in such magazines as Fourth Genre, Poetry, Cutbank, Under the Sun, The Wisconsin Review, Shenandoah and ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment. They've been featured in venues ranging from Utah Public Radio to People magazine. While putting down roots in Utah, they've also traveled the world, writing about experiences in such places as Vietnam, Spain and Antarctica.
